Hide n Seek

As teenagers, we still love to roam

And play our favorite childhood game, Hide and Seek, at home

We hide behind the curtains and under beds

And the seeker counts aloud with their head

The rush we feel, as we dash to find a hiding spot

Thinking we're safe, but then we hear them shout

"Ready or not, here I come!"

Our heartbeats quicken as we try to stay mum

The game has changed, as we've all grown

No longer just for fun, but to hide alone

We hide our feelings and our fears

Covering them up, so no one can hear

We seek validation and acceptance

Pretending to be someone else with a fake confidence

But sometimes, we don't want to be found

Cherishing our moments in silence, without making a sound

Nowadays, we hide behind screens

Posting filtered pictures and living fake dreams

But if you take the time to seek

You may uncover the truth, and stop feeling so bleak

So let's play Hide and Seek again

But this time, let's all be real friends

No need to hide behind a mask

Let's embrace ourselves, and take on every task.
