Hide and Seek

Who wants to play?

Remember when you and I were young.

Any summer night

as long as it was not raining

you can hear kids playing

a game, and

this game of

Hide and seek seemed to always

start with

"Who's it?"

No volunteer, here goes

eenie, minee, mo

catch a tiger by his toe

and you are not the one to be it.

Usually goes for a couple of minutes

till the last one left is the one to be

IT.

Counting now,

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and so on to at least 30;

to give time to scatter and hide,

Ready or not here I come the seeker would say,

and the rest of us without getting caught

would try to make it make to base, hopefully not

to be seen and caught.

Remember also if the seeker seemed not to find

anyone hiding there was a saying or a little tune--

Ollie, Ollie oxen free- meaning all that were

hiding can come home free and the game starts

again!

Oh, I remember those nights even now.

Anyone for a game of Hide and seek?
