Hiatus in our life
Covid19 as a break to rethink
Covid made us stop and stare,
Taking a deep breath to reassess
What we had and where we wanted to go.
Covid the big nothing for many months.
Empty roads, shops, schools.
Too much telly and zooms.
Covid the rude awakener,
Things don’t always go in straight lines.
Met children missing the routine of school.
Covid, will we see it as a before and after.
Or quickly putting on our old rags.
Put a smile on and go yonder.
Covid, cleaned the air for us.
But some were stuck and mourn we do.
All those people gone from us or suffering still.
Covid, friendly smiles behind a mask.
Will I know you on the other side?
Has it taught us that smiling helps to get through the rough?
