Heroes Without Capes
Not all heroes have to wear a cape to be considered one.
writing has saved my life
i say that a lot, i know
it’s true though
writing has saved my life
i say that a lot, i know
and i will continue to do so
i once heard a saying that goes:
“Not all heroes wear capes”
i wasn’t always courageous
nope, i was a coward
i wasn’t always courageous
nope, used hatred to cover it up
i wasn’t always courageous
i had to build it up
i wasn’t always courageous
speaking up on things that are
beyond personal, i don’t even know
what to call it at this point anymore
telling my audience stuff that no one
ever knew about me
until i spat it on a microphone
no one cared about what ailed me until
i became savage writer
never mind Khali Raymond,
separate the host from the parasite
before any of the personas,
i was a nobody whom you didn’t
pay any mind to
i’ll be fine, i became successful right
all my life i was a laughingstock
now my material flies offa’ shelves,
it’s out of stock
writing has saved my life
i say that a lot, i know
it’s true though
i attempted suicide twice, no
did NOT succeed either
honestly, i’m glad that i didn’t
no matter how anticlimactic my
downheartedness becomes,
i know that i have
something to live for
reality is a sturdy treat for me to bite into,
enough pressure applied – my teeth will come right out
i live to create, i live to enlighten,
i live to motivate
i live to use art as a medicine
to the soul, expression is key
to conquering psychological peril
i live to transform the lives of others,
what do i care about being boastful
when you’re blessed,
you become humble…
once you become humble,
you become a hero…
a hero without a cape
