My hero doesn't wear capes
Fly through the air
Or shoot lasers from his eyes
But he does save me every night
His kind helpful words
And warm, gentle smile
Put my saddening thoughts to rest
And cast my worries and fears away
The comfort I find in him
Diminishes the false comfort
I create in alternate realities
And even from afar, he protects me
And assures me that everything
Will be okay
I can talk to him about anything
Big or small
And he's always there to catch me
Whenever I fall...
Into despair, sadness, self-loathing
He washes them away
Like a gentle tide on a sandy beach
He is the moon and stars
On my darkest nights
Lighting my way
Past my biggest
Fears, pains, challenges
Even when he can't be with me
I can still think of him and feel safe
I do what I can, when I can
To help in return
For all the help he has given me
But nothing can ever amount
To all the wonderful things he's done
And I thank him every day
