HERE

sitting in peace & acceptance

By angela hepworthPublished 2 years ago • Updated 2 years ago • 1 min read

from cracks in the blinds

sweet sunlight peeks through

morning, warm and new

coming upon us

soft snoring beside me

grounds me where I lay

anxious for the day, that

these feelings of contentment

will not stay

and that darker thoughts will follow,

vast and unrefined, and

staring through the blinds

at sunlight will not change my mind

that I am full of purely bad things

things so wrong and strange

all these things I’ll never change

and yet still, I am here

so I’m free, and I’m near

to the life I deserve, and my kindness

will reign like a king

and I’ll strike down my doubts

like a child with a sling

I was wrong, I am wrong

I can change, I can change

and I have, and I’m scared

I’m afraid, but I’m here and I smile

at this light

shining through my window

at how far I’ve come

how to live now, even with fear

it just seems so clear

that I’ll try to be me

and I try to be here

when the brightness of life

around me shines, it glows

and it’s warm and kind, and above all

it shows me if this is all there is,

if life is doubt and worry and love

and pain and miracles,

music and movies and tears,

horrors and bliss,

then we have seen it all

and it is worth it not to fear

anything beyond this immensity

of our world

that is near; I am here

for a reason
