Here All Along

lyric

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 5 months ago 2 min read

Verse 1

Before I knew your footsteps,

Before I knew your name,

I carried you in my stories

Like a half‑remembered flame.

Every tale of love and longing

Was a whisper from our past—

A reminder that the soul remembers

What the body learns at last.

Pre‑Chorus

I always searched the world for something missing,

Not knowing you were my song—

A presence woven through my spirit,

Living in me all along.

Chorus

Oh, my true love, I wasn’t waiting

For a stranger on the road—

I was waking to the memory

Of a love my soul had always known.

We don’t meet by chance or timing,

We don’t meet by right or wrong—

We just recognize the truth

We’ve been in each other all along.

Verse 2

Every dream I ever wandered,

Every hope I tried to chase,

Was a shadow of your essence

Moving softly through my space.

And the moment that I saw you,

It was less like something new—

More a quiet, holy knowing:

“I’ve been walking toward you too.”

Pre‑Chorus

It wasn’t fate that brought us forward,

It was remembrance growing strong—

Two halves of one old story

Finding where they both belong.

Chorus

Oh, my true love, I wasn’t waiting

For a stranger on the road—

I was waking to the memory

Of a love my soul had always known.

We don’t meet by chance or timing,

We don’t meet by right or wrong—

We just recognize the truth

We’ve been here all along.

Bridge

And if the world should pull us distant,

If the night feels wide and long,

I’ll still feel you in my heartbeat—

You’ve been my echo all along.

For the meeting isn’t moment,

It’s the unveiling of the soul—

Two flames remembering their origin,

Two halves returning to the whole.

Final Chorus

Oh, baby, I wasn’t waiting

For a stranger on the road—

I was waking to the memory

Of a love my soul had always known.

We don’t meet by chance or timing,

We don’t meet by right or wrong—

We just recognize the truth

We’ve been in each other all along.
