Her Dark Night

Her descent into darkness

Was slow and fast

Building up steadily

From childhood

She hid pieces within herself

Buried so deep

She forgot they were there

But they burrowed

And festered

And took over her

Whole being

She cried and she wailed

She fought and she failed

Until the darkness

Was all she could see and feel

She succumbed to it

Bathing in its blackness

Trusting that this is her journey

Through the dark night

And the sunrise will come again
