The unexpected brought a surprise
When from across the room I saw a delight for my eyes
His electric smile brought weakness to my knees
His sumptuous pulchritude was displayed to please
The seductive fluidity of his moves mesmerized
As he caught my glance with an alluring sparkle in his eyes
Floating like a leaf descending on air
I close the distance between us
And entered his lair
Bewildered, yet enthralled I asked his name
And somehow I knew, I’d never be the same
Could it be love?
Or is it some lofty infatuation
What is it that has me feeling like I’ve been granted emancipation?
Can I trust the knowing of my heart over the protection of my mind?
Then the feathery touch of your fingers brushed against my cheek and it felt so divine
And then as words scented with promise caressed our ears
All I could think of was how wonderful it was to have you so near
As time lost its cadence to the ever present
30 years later I find myself still feeling the same way
As when from across the room
Love came my way
