Heart Crime
A love so intense, it shouldn't be legal.
Reaction to the crime
you committed the
moment you captured
my heart.
Brings blush
to my cheeks
each time
our eyes meet.
Weakness in my knees
reinforces the feelings.
Too strong for my heart
to handle on its own.
Adjusting to the error
only this love could bring.
So wrong, yet
feels so right.
Attempting to move on,
forgetting you pull
hard on my heart strings.
Bringing me back
each time I run away.
Author's note: Poetry prompt was for having your heart captured by someone you know you can never have. In my poem, I used it as a basis for loving someone you know, but you are too afraid to let them know the hold they have on you.

It's lyrics immediately breathe renewed hope and life into my spirit while successfully ignoring my pleas to retreat into the corner so that I may tend to my broken heart and badly rug-burned praying-knees.

On Winning and Losing
Recently, the pleasant surprise of placement on the Vocal Bonus Leaderboard sent me down a rabbit hole. Now, rabbit holes are a pretty common place for me to spend time, but I don't always feel the call to write about them. To be honest, the thought of sharing some of them mortifies me.
