Headlights

Asleep at the Wheel

By Philip L. CressPublished 3 years ago • 1 min read
headlights in the dark

Drifting through the darkest night.

I feel a sudden tremble...a stirring rising from deep below the surface.

Shooting through my soul.

Tearing me from the road's reality.

Rendering me displaced...removed.

Away from all I loved. Away from all I hated.

Caught between splintered strands of time.

Tumbling through the universe.

Inertia propelling me deeper into the void.

Out into space...among the stars; free from time...free from worry.

Never aware of the pair of headlights suddenly in front of me.
