He Is Risen

Sunday morning, after the cross: a celebration of the empty tomb

By Dr. George Shannon FergusonPublished 10 days ago • 1 min read

To a Christian, this day of all days
Is the greatest day of all days,
Because this day is Resurrection Day.
Every language and every tongue shall say,
One day, to enter Heaven, Jesus Christ is the only way.
I fall to my knees, bow my head, and pray.

The Earth, the angels, the heavens, and God Almighty cried
The day the Lamb of God was crucified.
My soul is saved from an eternity of hell
Through the blood that dripped from three nails.

But early that morning, the stone was rolled away;
The women came weeping where His body once lay.
Then an angel spoke, and the words rang clear:
"He is risen, just as He said; He is not here!"
On this day, the greatest day, a smile appeared;
Every fear, every tear, every chain disappeared.

Every angel and soul in Heaven celebrated and cheered,
Because Jesus CHRIST, THE KING OF ALL KINGS, IS HERE.
Satan, you are a liar; with my Father I have nothing to fear.
O grave, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?
He conquered them both, and forever He is King!

As I open my eyes and gaze up at the skies,
I am only here because my Savior died;
But the story doesn't end, for He is alive!
That's why I say, in every tongue and every way,
This is the greatest day of all days.

Everything my Savior said He would do, He did;
This day is not for a bunny; this day is for a Savior who rose from the dead.
The greatest gift this Earth has ever been given
Is the day that Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, has risen.
