Held in my heart
And bent pages of plastic
Yellowed and scarred
With no will to get past it
Used to be, gone
And the ones who fulfilled them
Here, all alone
Memories like a shotgun
Holding on with both hands
The little things that were more than
Our hope, dreams and plans
Being played by a stunt man
Because we never found them
Time seemed to freeze in our hands
Sticky notes and breadcrumbs
Pain too much to withstand
But when I revisit those memories
Everything falls back into place
I can smell real life in the trees
And I recall every face
The ones that held me together
The ones that taught me to love
The ones I like to remember
Are watching me from above
Then, I get a glimpse of their wings
And discover, they were always angels
All along they held me
And carry me through the ages
So, if you ever find me
Sitting alone and I'm smiling
I'll be caught up in a memory
With those angels here with me
