Hard Rain, The Erosion of Love

by Sam Harty

By ᔕᗩᗰ ᕼᗩᖇTYPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

Rain came down

we bathed in it

the sprinkles of

newness upon

her face painted

her with beauty

and grace.

We shared the wetness

like a soft kiss and

every drop hit just

right, leaving us in bliss.

It rained and we

celebrated each other

and all the rainbows

that followed us as

we let happiness

swallow us.

Until one day

it started raining

harder like stings

from a bee we felt our love

falter, noticing

the pleasure we'd shared

had diminished as

the crushing rain showed

signs we were finished

The ground we had stood on was

so wet it had eroded

our chats were less

barely enough to be noted

where all that was left was a

slapping of the ground like

tires on a freeway

nothing happened anymore

that made me truly happy

my days became a bore.

Rain can turn hard and be

unforgiving to the earth and ground

loss can occur where a change of mass

is all that can be found.

Soon those tires slapping

are all that is left of our trust

the rain turns to mud

that when dried turns to

dust.

In which

then

came the

erosion of us.
