This piece is in response to a Vocal Writing Prompts request for a story/poem involving a holiday. Since this long weekend is for Easter in the Christian calendar, following are my memories of family celebrations of the holiday

Chocolate bunnies
Sweet treats for sugar fixes
Eggs in a basket

Easter bunny came
Shiny toys for my brothers
Stuffed rabbit for me

New holiday clothes
Pink dress and Easter bonnet
Ribbons on my shoes

Green emerald grass
Flowers rising from the soil
Yellow daffodils
*
Shushed quiet in church
Faith in the impossible
Lilies on the altar
*
Family dinner
All gathered at Grandma’s house
Turkey and fixings
*
Play games with cousins
Early bed from exhaustion
Cuddle stuffed rabbit
*
A wonderful day
Of family, games, and fun
