Happy Birthday, Again

38 years gone behind

My birthday

Has become synonymous

With loneliness

When I have to order,

Pay for,

Cut my own cake

Alone.

When I have to shed tears

And be there for others

Who have lost someone

On the day the world gained me.

Tried so hard to be selfless

But my heart cries,

And is kind of jealous

Of those who have left this world.

Because of the loneliness

Of what remains behind

Is painful.

And I want to be rid of this pain.

But I cannot play God.

So I cave in,

Isolate,

HERMIT!

And remind myself that

It's just another day.

Happy 39th birthday to me,

From me.
