Hamartia

A fatal attraction

Like the rain that awakens the soil,

Your love ran deep into my heart to feel a void.

All these train wrecks in my head I can't avoid.

Like a mad man late for an interview,

You're my job and I can no longer get you.

You're faded away, like the sun disappearing behind the horizon you're out of view.

Too many words left unsaid,

A huge debt to you I haven't paid.

Waited too long in the cold breeze now you're gone and laid.

Held my breath like I was underwater now it's too late.

Oh what a fatal attraction!

Death immediately put in motion.

When I lay on my bed tonight,

As my vision becomes a zone of twilight,

I will do what my heart deems to be right.

I will choke on the three words I never uttered to you.

Listen as they guide my way to oblivion.

For they will destroy me like Sodom.

Darling, let me embark on this path I paved,

To the silent land with no pain.

A minute too late, a heart too young and wounds too deep to be saved.

There is no repentance beyond the grave,

So my love, as my heart slows down and my blood becomes cold,

My body as cold as the early morning dew

I have one regret, I wish I'd said "I love You."
