haiku august five and september starts
last week of august 2023 and first days or september in haiku

i’ve brought a cold home
maybe i got it from dad
a little keepsake
. . . [8/27/23]
. . .
so nurses will come
and PT and OT and
we'll see what happens
. . . [8/27/23]
. . .
and so we live now
a little more carefully
more information
. . . [8/29/23]
. . .
he did some PT
will do some laps 'round the table
we'll see how it goes
. . . [8/29/23]
. . .
everybody came
it was sweet to all be there
and now we are apart
. . . [8/29/23]
. . .
did not like my dreams
they were silly and a bore
i'd like a re-do
. . . [8/30/23]
. . .
it's still pretty hot
our air doesn't really work
so we're just sweating
. . . [8/30/23]
. . .
what would you like, dad
to be able to feel things
with my hands you see
. . . [8/30/23]
. . .
today is sept 1
of two thousand twenty three
wow to say that
. . . [9/1/23]
. . .
the wind comes in now
it's soft and light and lovely
nice morning is this
. . . [9/1/23]
. . .
how is dad really
can anyone know but him
we all try to help
. . . [9/1/23]
. . .
what can we all do
the only thing left is love
it is still his life
. . . [9/1/23]
. . .
what's it like at end
especially when you don't know
and what is the end
. . . [9/1/23]
. . .
he is in that chair
mostly he is in that chair
moving so little
. . . [9/1/23]
. . .
he is being watched
and he is being cared for
not been self a while
. . . [9/1/23]
. . .
says he is at peace
i hope that he really is
he does seem to be
. . . [9/1/23]
. . .
we're all adjusting
family and good friends alike
strange to be apart
. . . [9/1/23]
. . .
it is beautiful
we're lucky he is still him
this could be tougher
. . . [9/1/23]
. . .
but wait! what is this
it could be so many years
we don't even know
. . . [9/1/23]
. . .
the feel of a new phase
somehow feels like all of it
but it's just the start
. . . [9/1/23]
. . .
be careful with your thoughts
they really are just thoughts now
take a breath and be
. . . [9/1/23]
. . .
it's pretty foggy
morning like this i quite love
it rained a little
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
last sunday missed calls
i guess it's bound to happen
don't want to be bound
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
so, quiet so far
just enjoy this time you have
then create today
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
maybe make that book
or maybe just do sewing
just wait and you'll see
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
i want to run too
'never even ran a mile
maybe in seventh grade
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
i yearn for it though
and i also want to swim
best i get going
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
when choosing any
how do i really choose it
i go with body
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
sculpting called my arms
block-printing called to my hands
writing calls my heart
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
it's all the real me
it's all how i truly be
at least for now
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
i always said 'no'
didn't believe that i could
then i changed my mind
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
i know that i can
so now i say 'yes' to me
and that's the diff'rence
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
say "yes" all you can
try it out, it will be great
your eyes will open
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
things can still be hard
but you're you in a true way
and that will be great
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
i helped with a chair
he wanted to see higher
i hope he gets to
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
and it's been a week
not sure how he's doing yet
but i'm far away
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
we message and chat
they fill us in from afar
jimmy buffet died
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
open door workshop
rain, and fog, and the chainsaws
it's pretty perfect
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
h is coughing hard
i gave him a gift, this cold
hoping not as bad
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
always a reason
for chainsaws and cutting noise
oh! quiet moment
. . . [9/2/23]
. . .
. . .
well, what a week. strange times but sweet times. adjusting to a new phase for dad, so a new phase for all of us. i had a cold all week and still a bit of a cough! what an ass-kicker this one is, how about you? did you get it too, yet? quiet morning this sunday. it's nice. making a book. used cloth cover and will block-print on it. i did it a bit backwards - i made the book cover first now will have to create pages to fit. i do this often. things backwards.
