Guardian of the Vale

William's Tale

Watching from on high

Everyone going by

Seeing all that is done

Overlooking none

The good and the bad

The happy and the sad

Always keeping score

Of every marked door

Ready with a helping hand

For those in sinking sand

Or tossing a lightning bolt

At those who are in revolt

Here is the mysterious tale

Of the Guardian of the Vale

The pillage was ever so swift

Three thugs forced their desire

Upon poor William Lyft

Raping and tossing him atop the thorn briar

Robbing, they emptied his pockets

They left him for dead

Not bothering to close his eye sockets

The ravens came and pecked at his head

Unable to move, lying there, a broken man

Tears in his eyes, a prayer on his lips

He called upon the power of the Daimon

When the lightning flashed, he felt it in his fingertips

William was raised high in the air

His eyes were pouring burning tears

And all he could do was stare

For he was held in the arms

Of the Goddess Nemesis

Dismissing all his screaming alarms

He stroked the face of his rescuing Missus

Safely placing him along the path

She spoke aloud an ancient chant

To give him the power of Justifiable Wrath

As She lay Her hands atop his head, he began to pant

As William’s Holy Savior turned and walked away

William straightened, his wounds having disappeared

Looking over the valley, his body began to sway

With a heat, his body suddenly had armor appear

Muscles filling in where none had been before

His glasses were blurry and utterly useless

Smiling, he went to even the score

Finding them trying to take advantage of the clueless

With a roar of pure undiluted fury

William did serve out a justice most deserving

Unsure why, he knew he was done when he smelt curry

So he stopped, leaving, honoring the Goddess he was serving

Night after night

Day after day

William listened with all his might

For any thugs he needed to slay

Young and old

Male and Female

His services could never be sold

In times of need, he did not stall

Down from his mountaintop

To protect the people of the vale

Forcing criminals to stop

Evil swept aside with the power of a gale

Catching the crooks

Flushing out those on the lam

Flying as high as the rooks

For criminals, he doesn’t give a damn

The innocent, he will protect

His service forsworn by Nemesis

A Paladin's sacred oath he has kept

No lips will he ever kiss

Alone, he has remained

No tears from his eyes leak

Acceptance of his fate is obtained

Busy guarding the weak

A gift of long life

In exchange for celibacy

His mind, as sharp as a knife

Slicing through lies with delicacy

His Mistress

A hard Taskmaker

She takes with interest

Her instrument, his sword of nacre

Holding it high

Our Hero stands tall

Don’t you dare look him in his left eye

And cover your ears to his battle call

So if you’re ever out on the town

Day or night, night or day

Or even in your house, sitting down

No matter if it’s Friday, Monday, or Sunday

There’s no reason to take fright

For the Guardian of the Vale

Has only come to set things right

Becoming what the legends tell

Passed down from one ear to another

Each generation has eagerly awaited

For a sighting of this Hero Brother

By the light of day

His power holds sway

In the dark of night

The Goddess grants him might

Evildoers hold no ground

He chases them like a hound

Cleansing the town

Never accepting a ruler’s crown

Happy to reside above

Showering his Mistress with his Love

Always steady

Always ready
