A Poem

I see you in the smiles through my mirror

I feel your presence in my dreams

and I know your spirit lives on within me.

But it hurts to know I can never hear your voice again,

knowing I can never call you to tell you you're invited to my wedding

or telling you that you have another family member on the way

or just knowing you were a flight away from me and I knew you could be there.

I know you live in the depths of my heart, but it breaks every time I know you are not here

and it's been a year.

I miss you would be an understatement, but it's all I can verbalize.

There is a hole in our lives that will forever be filled by your soul and we hope you are at peace,

but please

show us a sign, show me a sign that life does not end with the last breath

that we are more than the physical form and I can begin again

and I can find you in the next life.
