I feel him sitting there

Grandad’s Chair Keeps Rocking

The rocking chair was rocking, though no one sat in it,

Yet I swore I saw a ghostly glow quietly there for a bit.

I thought it must be Grandad, just letting us know he’s near.

His old chair often rocks, even when no one’s here.

No it doesn’t scare me; I simply smile and say,

Hi Grandad, how are you? like I would any day.

It’s only when there’s silence, and he doesn’t reply,

That I feel the ache inside me and can’t help but cry.

A medium once told me, He just wants to say hi.

He doesn’t mean to scare you,he’s only passing by.

So now I watch the rocking, and softly speak his name,

And in that quiet moment, I feel him just the same.
