Gospel: A Love Manifesto Poem

What is the gospel

I will proclaim

To the ends of the earth?

What is it that I will

Share with everyone I meet?

I will give them the words

And deeds of love,

Of kindness,

And respect.

But first

I will start with myself,

Speaking inner words

Of compassion,

Encouragement,

And grace.

I will shower

Myself with care

And affirmation,

Strong in my identity.

Then I will love others

With my deepest

Affection and

Most intense effort.

I will shine this light

Until all of those around me

Are brightened and

Feel valued,

Like they deserve,

Like I deserve.

My love will spread,

It will ripple through with waves

Into waters

beyond my knowledge.

What I can see

I will smile at with pride

Knowing I am

Living out

the most sacred purpose.
