Goodbye Worm ~Adele Pena c1995

Cast it out across the lake,

I watched my pet worm fly.

Hooked upon a fishing rod,

his fate was now to die.

I'm not cruel, so don't blame me.

I didn't kill the crawler.

It was this hungry savage man.

I couldn't stand to hear him holler.

I almost cried as my worm died.

It was a gloomy hour.

But once at home,

I fried that fish after dipping it in flour.
