“Gone”
Empty is the heart that’s lost,
Yet one has gained the love of the lost.
Empty is the heart that has no hope,
Yet one lived each day with a goal.
Empty is the heart with out its friend,
Yet that friend sets and watches.
Empty is the heart with out the joy of life,
Yet the life was touched leaving its print.
Empty is the heart grieving the soul gone from the world,
Yet the soul is wrapped around like a glove.
Empty the heart is not for
It has the love and memories left,
By the soul gone from this world and life.

Perfect Little Pirate
The rough, sodden rope bit into her fingers as she swung over the roiling water far below. Reaching out with the toe of her boot, she managed to catch hold of the rain-soaked railing of the ship- and promptly slipped. Throwing herself forward, she landed hard on the deck, slamming her elbows against the wood planks. The sharp yelp of pain quickly bubbled into a laugh, and she rolled onto her back, laughing up at the gray sky as a torrent of rain washed away the soot covering her skin.
