The Last Quest

In ancient lands where legends dwell,

A tale unfolds, of might and spell.

Gilgamesh, the king of Uruk's throne,

A saga carved in epic stone.

His stature grand, a demigod's grace,

In mortal realms, a towering face.

Two-thirds divine, one part of clay,

A king whose deeds would mark his way.

A quest embarked, to seek his fate,

Through distant lands and cities' gate.

Enkidu, his kin and soul,

A bond that made them strong and whole.

Together they faced the beastly Bull,

In the Cedar Forest, dangerous and full.

Humbaba, guardian of the sacred trees,

Defied by Gilgamesh's might with ease.

Yet fate unraveled, Enkidu fell,

A loss that cast a somber spell.

In grief, Gilgamesh sought the key,

To conquer death, eternal decree.

Through trials untold, he journeyed far,

Seeking Utnapishtim, the immortal star.

The flood survivor, who found the boon,

Of eternal life beneath the moon.

Uruk's king faced challenges dire,

Mortal struggles, celestial fire.

A serpent snatched the plant of youth,

A quest that unraveled, revealing truth.

The epic echoes through the ages,

Of friendship lost in life's cruel stages.

Gilgamesh, the hero, fierce and bold,

A tale of legacy, of stories told.

Through battles fought and quests pursued,

The demigod's strength and fortitude.

In the annals of Mesopotamian lore,

Gilgamesh reigns forevermore.
