Peacefully Purring
Sleep fully Snoring
This dull and dreary morning
Would be the old Witch's grey tabby
Curled up in his half hollowed pumpkin bed
Instead of on his way for shopping in the downtown abbey
Sleeping he was still because all last night he was busy chasing mice and giving them a good fright
So curled up in his half squash jack o lantern and blankie with a checkered pattern
Just felt right
Until the cabin floor started creakin
Then suddenly the old tabby was up and streakin
Quick he scattered across the hardwood floor and out the banging screen door
Heading straight to the market
Before the witch's fresh ingredients she would be seeking
Reluctantly he dashed through the mud on pretty preened paws
Eager to get through the woods and grab his goods
Hoping to avoid the other gossiping tabbies always loittering around the old shabby parts of the abbey
Luckily today he was swift and none of them caught a wiff as he soundlessly slipped into Ye Olde Trinket Shop
Where the keeper was waiting
Sipping on a cola pop
"Tarty again," the old man tskt
The tabby replied with a meow
Then the old man furrowed his brow and disappeared behind a shroud
Returning with another gift besides the one the witch was yearning
Hastily the cat grabbed the witch's bag in his toothy maw as the keeper wrapped something around his neck with a pendant dangling just below his jaw
"Try this from now on"
And in a giant grey poof the kitty was gone
Once again curled up in his bed and the witch's goods sat up on the counter just before dawn
