I sit, eyes caught in autumn's firelight web,

His shadow beckons, face of tidal ebbs

And flows only my deepest mem'ry knows,

His arms once held the quell of thunderous rain

Now lost in embers shattered in refrain

Of love's last whisper on lips of a ghost,

The shade cast o'r my heart as distance grows

And tears apart the light that gathered close

To us in years now only albums hold,

Their faded photo memories unfold

'tween pages dog-eared through my futile search

For answers why he left me in the lurch,

The gaps between the lies he left abound

And love's lost shimmer I again have found
