Genteel Poke

When we are glad we didn't get the desires of our hearts...

By Rowan Finley Published 4 months ago • 1 min read

God, thank you for knowing the desires of my heart,

but also, thank you for not always giving me the desires of my heart.

Simply because I know my heart is fickle and flighty.

Whereas, you are Noble and Mighty

Holy Spirit, come and write on the script of my soul,

because my mouth is dry and I need to be reminded of my lines.

Whisper where I need to stand on stage,

or if you want me behind the scenes,

then I'll dress in dark clothes and pull the curtain ropes.

I don't say any of this as some sort of joke,

I need your stoking fiery cues and genteel poke.
