Gathering

the eternal

Infinity: unlimited, endless, without bound*

Gathering is all I have left of you now...

But my arms cannot possibly hold all the beauty of that

physicalness which was torn out of my useless limbs.

Left is only your essence, your scent, the echo of your laugh

I try to gather each bit and piece during every waking moment

Even in my sleep, holding onto the tee shirt you last wore.

I pray for glimpses and memories of you and signs.

Sometimes tears cloud my vision and an incurable ache

is all that I hold. Empty arms stop my breath.

But hope lies in the sky, way beyond what the human eye can fathom.

You are there. Out of my reach. And your arms are open wide.

One day. Yes, one day we will hold each other again, I know.

Until then, we gather the love we shared, invisible but powerful and alive.
