Funny Faces Fill the Frame

~ ~ ~

By Rowan Finley Published 6 months ago • Updated 6 months ago • 1 min read

Funny faces fill the frame,

never heard or seen their names.

Joking and pretending to, them, choke,

prattling, giggling and throwing jokes.

What happened to Aunt Florence?

What happened to Uncle Clarence?

Great grandpa Eldridge,

did you write about the grand times you had with them?

I bet you did.

Feeling photo, frozen in time,

just long enough, to find a rhyme.

I long to know you all,

more than from this photo introduction.

It was a different world back then,

though human nature remained the same,

struggling and juggling life's demands,

all the while,

weaving memories from fragmented strands.

I know in my heart,

that you made the best of life,

even when you were, sometimes, dealt the worst of it.

Thank you for setting the example, so long ago,

through the radiance of your smile, it surely shows!
