Grieving a love lost

I had to mourn you to embrace me

Buried our memories to the back of my mind

And placed your favorite flowers there

To be honest, I cried

Loud and often

My heart cried for you

But loving you had been at the cost of me

I don’t remember what I did before you

My hobbies had taken a back seat

The books on my shelf collected dust

My friends had stayed

But our conversations had become dull

Because all I talked and complained about was…

I am not strong enough to say I hope you’re happy

I don’t.

Grief shouldn’t only be my burden

One more thing for us to share

But you couldn’t even share love…

Maybe I am asking you for something that you simply are unable to give

That was our demise

I wanted you to love me the way I love you

And you’re simply unable
