Frozen

Poetry

By Serena NorrisPublished 9 years ago • 1 min read

My heart compresses and decompresses,

And with the thought of you,

I find myself flailing,

Struggling to find a hold.

And I could tell you that it's cold,

But you already know,

And your response is halfhearted,

And I feel alone.

Who are you,

To ask me to wait?

And who am I to give you,

Every little thing you ask for?

Can you break,

Every little piece,

of my still beating heart,

Leaving me shattered like glass?

Kiss these bloodstained lips,

Demanding an answer,

Can you test my walls a little longer?

I might collapse under the pressure.

What is this broken feeling,

Swelling inside of me?

Your fingers tangled in my hair,

Your eyes as chilling as this frostbitten waste.

What game shall we play,

As we wait,

You're standing still,

On this frozen shore.

And here I sit,

High up in oak tree,

Remember the taste of me,

As you kiss away the tears.
