I had a small glimpse of what life may be.

I just didn’t really want to see.

This wasn’t the life I prayed would be.

You were taken too soon from the boys and me.

I was a wife to you faithfully.

What will I do with myself I ask lately?

I will make through this change gracefully.

That is what you would except of course from me.

The other day it dawns on me that my life partner is truly gone.

No more can I just pick up the phone to call you.

Now all I would get is this lonely lonely tone.

Wait your voice is ringing in my ear so strong.

There are days when I wonder are you somewhere missing me too.

Of course not, you are in a place where all things are new.

A place where there is no more grief or pain.

A place where your mom and dad reached out to you with loving hands.

Never did I think of our life in this way.

The thought of this sometimes I still can't take.

This wasn't supposed to be.

From wife, to wid0w, to single mother oh my.

Some folks say I should embrace being free.

Maybe that is true, but I don’t know when that time will be.

All I can see is our boys and they are main priority.

I am no longer a wife now I am a widow and single mother yes that’s me.
