Snowball's Legacy
A woman and a rescue, a bond like no other
A journey that started with a chance encounter like no other
One day at a friend's house she sees
A white dog, malnourished, with a spirit that still believes
She named her Snowball, and gave her a warm bath
Her coat turned ivory, a transformation, a new path
She was skittish and shy, but with time and care
She grew to trust the woman, a bond beyond compare
But Snowball fell ill, and the woman's heart ached
She wished for just one more litter, Snowball's legacy to make
Fate had similar plans, and Snowball gave birth
To six white furballs, a new family on earth
One stood out among the rest, a tiny talkative pup
The woman named her Luna, and her heart filled up
But Snowball's time had come, and she passed away
Leaving the woman with only Luna, to light up her day
Though Snowball is gone, her memory still lingers
The woman remembers the joy of those few months with her puppies, that it still brings her
For Snowball was a gift, a path to new life
And in Luna, the woman found an unbreakable bond, and freedom from a love that cut like a knife.

It Only Took One Minute.......
It only took a minute. I was sitting at the computer in my office when the phone rang. I picked up the receiver and then laid it down my desk as I went to find the student who the call was for. Within seconds I was back at my desk, ready to resume typing, when I heard the student yelling obscenities at me for listening in to his call through the handset that was still lying on the desk. Sick and tired of the lies he was spewing, I was up running down the hall, ready to kill him. By the time I reached him, I had calmed enough not to hurt him, but as I turned back towards my room, I knew that I couldn’t go on like this any longer. The decision was clear. I had to leave.
