From Lovers To Enemies

It started with something that felt impossible to break,

Two people certain they had found something rare,

Every word carried meaning, every touch held promise,

A connection that seemed untouched by doubt.

Time shifted slowly at first, almost too subtle to notice,

Small cracks forming beneath what once felt unshakable,

Silence replacing conversations that once came easily,

Distance growing where closeness used to live.

Friendship tried to hold what love could no longer carry,

A softer version of what remained between two people,

Moments shared out of habit rather than desire,

Something familiar but no longer enough.

Resentment settled in quietly without asking permission,

Turning memories into something harder to hold,

Every kindness began to feel like obligation,

Every glance carried something unspoken and sharp.

The fall into something darker did not happen all at once,

It unfolded slowly through things left unsaid,

Until love became something unrecognisable and cold,

A feeling replaced by something closer to blame.

Now there is nothing left worth returning to or saving,

Only the remains of something that once felt real,

Two people standing on opposite sides of what they destroyed,

Remembering just enough to know what they lost.
