Flash.

Eyes as blue and captivating as tanzanite,

piercing back through the crowd into his.

Darkness.

He steps forward, brushing through the branches

of drunk students swaying in the vibrations from the bass.

Flash.

Hair, smooth as eggs but with the blended color

of slightly browned toast.

Darkness.

He lunges further, anxious now

to investigate this part of a balanced life.

Flash.

Lips, full and pink; so sweet

that even she had to taste them.

Darkness.

He reaches out, he could almost

feel her presence in front of him.

Flash.

A void occupies the space she once was.

A square foot had never seemed so empty.

Darkness.

He tenses up and straightens his back

as a small soft hand intertwines its fingers with his.
