Friendship

Remember

When all we knew

Was to run and play

Friendship showed the way

In innocence we had no clue

Storms would change all we knew

Kindness was our start

Love is life’s true heart

Climbing trees and skinned knees

Life is wonderful when your at the start

Then comes life’s first broken heart

Battered and bruised we look for clues

How this could happen and what do we do

So simple when all we did is run and play

Now we must worry about the things we say

Freedoms illusion touches all that we see

Makes us doubtful about what we can be

It may seem to far to reach the highest star

Optimism tried and true relentless shall see us through

Battle life’s demons in the pits of hell

Overcome the want and the need it only takes the faith of a mustard seed

Wisdom is taught and may pass from sight

The lessons you learned taught you wrong from right

Innocence pure unbound and free speaks of hope with clarity

Skimming stones and skipping rope before doubt comes to dash our hope

On the playground we had no cares friends could be found everywhere

When we grow up we come to learn

Friendship is the one thing harder to earn
