No drunk communication at all with their Ex

There’s always a chance

A girls night out ends badly,

Especially if commiserating

A breakup that ends sadly.

***

Friends will rally around

When the chips have fallen,

Let’s go get our drunk on

Throw the wind to caution.

***

Party, party, party, party

We will help you forget,

If only for tonight, you are

Banned from being upset.

***

The night starts slowly

The vibes start to build,

Your drinks are flowing

Your mood’s more chilled.

***

You don’t need a guy

None of us really do,

Independent and fun

Tonight guys are taboo.

***

Dance, dance, dance

Girl, move to the beat,

Empty your thoughts

Sway, shuffle, repeat.

***

Need another drink

Coming right up,

Don’t say his name

Or we’ll interrupt.

***

Whoa, steady on girl

Weaving and ducking,

Drinking too much, too fast

You’ll end up upchucking.

***

Night’s coming to an end

You pick up your phone,

No, nope, not a chance

Yes, I should have known.

***

Friends don’t let friends

Booty call or drunk text,

You’ll thank me tomorrow

Stay away from your Ex.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
