We Hold The Power To Our Triggers. Our Triggers Hold Our Power To Change

A man once triggered me

under the full moon

in October

When I reacted

he calmly said to

"not take it so personally"

"he didn't mean to hurt me"

He said triggering people

by things he says is an unconscious habit

*

He told me he didn't care much about it

because it's not his fault

for triggering someone else

This was his logic

"I may say something loaded

but only you have the power to pull the trigger"

*

I thought about that

and considered the validity

It was true

although it was inconsiderate

We do hold the power to our triggers

and our triggers hold our power to change

Being triggered merely

raises our awareness to unattended wounds

from the past we have yet to heal

*

I thought it was a brilliant idea

If only he could practice what he preached

*

He was defensive and often triggered

from past pain he had yet to heal

When he was triggered

he shot his friends down

and blamed them for provoking him

fact or fiction
