Fragments At 2AM
For Poppy's Prompts Challenge Thingo- January

It’s 2AM.
My endless wrestle
drifting into deep sleep
is filled with bullet holes
so deep.
My hands
busy
in tug-a-war
with
the edge of
my crimson red
patchwork quilt,
again.
**
A heavy body,
with chocolate
and white fur,
weighs down
my warm corner
that was meant
for me.
Thoughts begin
to scatter in my
tired mind eye
like dandelion seeds
caught up in
a forceful
breeze.
**
Two souls
seeking
warming
from the
freezing
temperate
from the man
who set
the frosty degree,
is peacefully sleeping
next to me.
**
My anxious eyes
check the time once more,
has the fingers of
the clock
frozen
too?
**
It’s still 2AM!
Goddamn!
**
Tis a time
to sleep.
Yet my worried thoughts
begin to multiple
in size,
like those ugly
babushka dolls.
**
Heart is racing.
Agitation
is draining
sleep
away.
For the clock
feels like
it's insanely
stuck at
2AM!!!
