Forget Me Nots Are Tinged With Tears

Tiny blue flowers grew wild by the gate

Blooming each summer beside where we’d wait

You used to gather them gently for me

Hands smelling faintly of earth and sweet leaves

Forget me nots scattered over the ground

Like fallen pieces of memories found

Beautiful things carrying sorrow inside

Much like the love that eventually died

After you left I still walked there alone

Tracing old footsteps now weathered and gone

Each fragile petal seemed touched by the past

Holding soft echoes too painful to grasp

Forget me nots are tinged deeply with tears

Watered by longing and unanswered years

Some flowers bloom sweetest close beside grief

Brief little colours too tender to keep

I pressed one blossom inside of a book

Hidden away in a forgotten nook

Its colour grew faded as seasons moved on

Still the old ache somehow never quite gone

Perhaps every garden carries some pain

Roots drinking deeply from loss and from rain

Yet every spring those blue flowers appear

Proof love once lived and was once very near
