Forevermore

A home inside yourself

My dearest friend,

I’ve always been here.

Next to you,

with you

*

I’ve endured every struggle,

witnessed each success

*

All of your laughter -

deep belly chuckles

uncontrollable giggle fits

forced haha’s to impress, fit in

*

I’ve felt you cry -

tears of joy

rivers of triumph

*

A single drop escaping the corner of your eye,

as you held it together

fearing vulnerability,

cowardice

*

Buckled over sobbing,

cherubic cheeks dappled with pain

*

The textures and temperatures

felt with your fingertips

as they grazed the offerings of this world

*

Right here I’ve been.

*

As I listened to each heart beat -

inside the womb

the flutter of your first romance

and each love thereafter

*

As it’s raced in anticipation -

uncertain of the obstacle before you

terrified of the unknown

of the known

*

All of your breaths -

steady and strong with confidence

slow and subtle as you drifted to sleep

heavy with exhaustion

gasping as you pulled your head above water

inhaling life

*

I’ve seen by way of your eyes -

the golden rays of the setting sun

silvery slivers of moonlight

a luminous glow escaping the windows of a beloved’s soul

*

A brilliant array of color and shapes

dancing through vesica piscis

adorning your tender face

*

Fields of wildflowers

mom’s home cooked meal

warm sheets from the dryer

the fragrance of your partner’s skin

*

Swirled around your nostrils

as they flared and contracted

grasping at nostalgia

floating on a gentle breeze

*

Here, I have been.

With you all the while.

*

Watched you dance in the rain

thunder crashing overhead

arms raised to the heavens

salt teased lips from ocean mist

body rolled upon the waves

*

I’ve sat through every moment -

experienced the time passing

counted seconds for you,

with you

*

I’m the voice inside your head

rising from your depths

whispering..

you. are. enough.

*

Guiding your being

the one who will never leave

*

Here, forevermore.
