This is my twenty-seventh dark poem in the series inspired by Dharrsheena,
This one is inspired by the monsoon weather we are experiencing in Newcastle, although I am lucky to be on a high point so unlikely to be flooded, and I can swim.
The music I have chosen is Katie Melua's "The Flood" taken from her 4th studio album "The House" . I love the orchestration on this and think it is a perfect accompaniment for my poem.

Water, Water Everywhere
And We Donβt Have Time To Think
Itβs Three Feet High And Rising
Here Comes The Flood, A Nightmare

The Sandbags Will Never Work
Waterβs Creeping Up Our Stairs
The Flood Is Here To Take Us
To Destroy All Before It

The Flood Has Marked Us To Drown
In The Water Sinking Down
Our Lungs Filling, Weβve No Air
We Cannot Swim,No Hope Here

We'z Walking on a Path Ruled By Numbers
This road has felt endless, yet limited; every step tracked. Inching away along this path, I feel trapped. Confined. Left to this narrow passage that may one day amount to something greater. Time is not a concept. Only distance. From start to finish, I laugh and cry and attempt to convince myself that this is worth it. I cannot stray. I must keep going. Every step etched, is a step taken, is measured as more than before. I cannot even recall how I got here. Maybe I donβt even really exist. Just another tick marking off a perceived presence. Of what though? I am just another line drawn. Nothing more, nothing less.

I had to chuckle at first when you added that you could swim! The poem itself had such a dark mood and then you dropped that last line! Great work on this one :)
