Flawless

Light Breaks Water Challenge

I walk slowly on the golden,

softly sun-kissed road.

Never have I been here,

set my foot on the ground.

But I must confess,

I have often stolen

a glance,

sometimes two,

when passing by.

My mind, in longing, found itself

seeking secrets in shadowed nooks.

There are hills and valleys up ahead

and an endless reach of fields.

They move

and breathe in harmony.

Perfection

from nothingness was built.

I passed a cave;

it lit a spark

in my gut and mind and heart.

A sudden wave of reverence

washes over my whole being.

My heart peeks in,

yet feet stay firm,

waiting for a sign,

a nod,

a whisper opening the door.

The mounds in ancient symphony

grow from the waving ground.

Nature’s work of art

pristine,

flawless,

pure,

spreading here before me,

until the horizon’s brim.

The steep rock hill I see beyond

rises from the ground to skies.

And curvatures, they’re meant to be,

embrace each other’s flowing lines.

The sunbeams catch

each millimeter

enveloped tenderly

in warm embrace.

The heat makes surface glisten

and smell of summer days.

Each step I take I find myself

more daring,

yet feather-light, to not disturb.

In awe of nature’s handiwork.

One gust of wind,

one gentle blow

reveals all that sculptured beauty

from beneath the chisel’s dust.

You tremble

and pull me from my wandering

through the primeval wonderland.

I find my fingertip has reached

the furrows,

the lines inside your open hand.
