First Love, Last Breath

My first love

taught me how fire feels,

the kind of heat

that lives under the ribs.

It burned bright,

too bright to last,

lighting the sky

for a moment.

But years later

I still feel it flicker,

a warmth reminding me

I once believed in magic.

Last love came softer,

steady as breath,

something deeper

than the body.

And even in loss

I feel that softness,

a love that lingers

beyond the edges of life.
