Glasses clinking over boisterous boasting and jovial laughter

Nothing could drown out the siren song of his utterance

Had I heard anything else since he hypnotized me with his voice of velvet?

Alas, all I could do was pretend to understand the sussurant melody

I was riveted on the magic in his eyes.

A mosaic of seafoam and sage and juniper

Full of depth and hope and fear and elation and desire

My gaze broken only by the brilliant beam of light that is his smile

Illuminating the darkest corners of my soul

Unraveling the gray shroud of dreary existence, revealing a vibrant world awash in the color of LIFE

His giant hands, so soft and tender, massaged my shoulders, my arms, my calves.

Every caress left a wake of goosebumps and delicious shivers.

Entranced, enchanted, floating

Euphoria when his lips grazed mine

Never had a kiss been so significant, overflowing with emotion

When we parted, I realized my skin tingled at the thought of him, as though it was missing him

Except my skin was not the only part of me that missed him.

And then I knew it was real

About the Creator

MELISSA BAILEY

I've always found calmness in writing. I'm a quintessential Pisces, I feel everything and writing helps keep me grounded. As such, I write mostly poetry, but I'm spreading my wings and trying my hand at some short stories.
