First Date
A Poem by Theodore D.
Her arrival sparked something inside me.
Time halted, for a brief moment.
Reminding myself to breathe, I smiled.
I was at ease, I was home.
She sat down across the table from me for the first time.
My heart melted, I was hers.
She gazed into my eyes, instantly like a drug, she overpowered me.
My will was broken, her will was mine.
I hope that things will work out this time.
Reminding myself to breathe, I sighed.
Her heart melted, she was mine.
Time halted, in my exhale.
She smiled, I was home.
Forever in my mind will that night roam.
