Firewood
A Vermont Home

Flakes fall soundlessly
The world is silent now
Pine needle boughs are bending
Laden with heavy snow
Smokey coils looming over houses
You get the firewood
The wood stove has its supper
And I am making mine
Raindrops roll glittering
The sky is darker now
Bubbling coffee pot is brewing
Cuddling beneath a throw
Steaming coils looming over cups
You get the firewood
The fire's in its place
And I am making mine
Babes sleep heavily
The house is quiet now
Chests are rising and falling
They are stirring to and fro
Dreams coil looming over heads
You get the firewood
The hearth makes a glow
And they are making mine
Leaves fall gracefully
The branches are barer now
Sweet childhood laughter echos
Happy leaves made low
Windy coils looming over ground
You get the firewood
The campfire's heart ignites
And my family lights mine

Excellent imagery!
Dude...Mike is HAULING that firewood. I love this piece. I definitely feel the comfort in this. Well done!
The repetition feels nice and drowsy. It really is evocative of nodding comfortably off to sleep by crackling, flickering firelight, as snow falls outside.
Lovely!
