Finished.

Because everything ends.

Finished.

Careless smiles, thrown away, as meaningless

As the days, months, years we spent together -

Not just you, but others that I held close.

Bridges broken, an eerie consequence.

Perhaps we can rebuild some of what we

Once had; revive that lost 'love' sentiment.

Or maybe not, as pride cannot be swallowed

As easily as an apology.

Seeing you in passing, when driving, or

In town as we live our separate lives

Always leaves a bitter taste on my tongue.

A reminder of the ghost over my shoulder.

Farewell, then, I suppose. As our bond lies

Fractured, haunting, shattered beyond repair.
