It took getting lost in you
To find myself
Giants grasping for the sky
Cradled my heart at their feet
Anonymity my greatest freedom
Constraints I’d not imagined attached to my soul
Melted away
Running free
Unbridled dreams so big
They frightened even me
Letting go of this place I called home
Ushered in pain the likes of which I’d never known
Five years of anguish
As though mourning a lost lover
Gazing upon you now
I wonder if you remember me
The timid heart who spent hours transfixed by your beauty
Marveling at your artistry
Delicately fracturing every sunset
As if to say, this beauty is for you
Reminding me, in the midst of fear
Lay untold possibility
Knowing that no matter where I rest my head
My heart will always be with you
New York City on my mind
